An illustration of Aphrodite designed to be cut as a linocut print, themed around her birth from sea foam.

This is an illustration of my perception of the goddess Aphrodite from Greek mythology that I made to be turned into a linocut print. I specifically themed this design around the myth of her birth from sea foam.

I found it especially challenging to work in pure white and pure black with a limited capacity to express a mid-tone. In the end, it proved too complex in certain places for the size of block that I was working with, though I still see it as a successful learning experience.

Made for a class assignment on producing a mythology-based linocut.
